I love today's topic from Dana , which is contrasts. I thought it would be easy, but after I started thinking about it, wasn't quite sure! I can't wait to see what everyone else has thought of for this one!
We all know that contrasts are an emphasized difference between two or more things. What can also be neat neat is the contrasts of contrasts.
There are literary contrasts (remember your English lit teachers telling you to compare and contrast ABC to XYZ in your paper?), and there are contrasting ways to even get your lit: a Kindle to read on electronic paper things centuries old, podcast to listen to what's been written, the library to read what's on microfiche, the web to order your hardcopy...
There are color contrasts: black to white, light to dark, bold to subtle. But as with the white post a few weeks back, we know that white paint is the absence of color, but white in chemistry is the combination of all colors.
There are plenty in nature: water to land, sky to ground, night to dark, dead to live, old to young. The old create the young, as when dead leaves get recycled to fertilize the new, or the water that we think is so fresh is hundreds of years old recycled through the rain, ground, oceans, and into our homes.
There are contrasts in people: kind to witchy, funny to dull, happy to sad, sick to well, Mother Theresa to Madoff, lazy to industrious, tall to short. The differences here go on and on!

Well, my fellow Corner Viewer, I don't know how I missed your blog before, but I did. I'll be back. I wonder how life in Washington DC would be?
ReplyDeleteThank you for coming by! I did my corner view post a day late...sorry! However, loving DC and so glad to have found another roaming heart.
ReplyDeleteI think your great CV was the best contrast to my (not written) CV:)
ReplyDeleteBecause of my terribly busy daily routine I am not able to catch every CV even though I wish I could participate on every Wed.
I enjoy reading the contrasts from your point of view. Absolutely true in words.
